Why are Hockey Canada's waivers mandatory?

At Hockey Canada, we aim to be transparent and proactive in sharing key information with our registrants, especially regarding the terms and conditions of participation. Here’s why we ask participants to acknowledge certain waivers:

  1. Hockey Canada Acknowledgment
This waiver is a simplified summary of By-Law 14.2. While the By-Law details our rules and policies, most of our participants likely won’t read through it in full. The acknowledgment ensures that all registrants are aware, up front, that by registering, they are agreeing to abide by Hockey Canada’s rules and regulations. This clarity helps prevent misunderstandings about the conditions of participation.

  2. Hockey Canada Use of Registration Data
Privacy is a priority, and this waiver ensures we meet legal requirements by obtaining “informed consent” from our participants. It explains that we are collecting and storing personal information and outlines how this data may be used, keeping in line with privacy law principles.

  3. Hockey Canada Optional Use of Personal Information
This is an optional consent form that gives participants the choice to receive additional services, promotions, or be involved in hockey-related research. It is entirely voluntary, and those who prefer not to provide this consent are free to decline.

These waivers exist to ensure that all participants understand the terms of registration and are informed about their rights and options related to privacy and additional services.
