Understanding Trust Levels in the Hockey Canada Community

In our community, trust is built over time through positive participation. Discourse, the platform we use, has a system called trust levels to ensure everyone has a great experience. As you engage more, you’ll unlock new features and opportunities to contribute.

1. Prospect

When you first join, you’ll start as a New Member. This helps us protect the community from spam while you get familiar with how things work.

What you can do:

  • Browse topics and join discussions.
  • Post a few replies and topics.
  • Like posts to show your appreciation.

As you spend time reading and participating, you’ll naturally move to the next level!

2. Rookie

After a little activity, you’ll become a Basic Member. This means you’re starting to become a trusted part of the community.

What you can do:

  • Upload images and files.
  • Share more links in your posts.
  • Send private messages to connect with others.

Keep exploring, engaging, and contributing to keep moving up!

3. Veteran

Active Members are regular participants who have shown they care about the community.

What you can do:

  • Invite others to join conversations.
  • Edit and pin your posts temporarily.
  • Access additional community areas (if available).

Your continued involvement helps make the community a vibrant place!

4. Superstar

Regular Members are some of our most active and engaged participants. You’ve really earned your place as a trusted contributor!

What you can do:

  • Help keep things organized by renaming or recategorizing topics.
  • Flag inappropriate content to keep the space safe and welcoming.
  • Join private discussions with other trusted members.

Staying active helps maintain this level, so keep being awesome!

5. Hall of Famer

Community Leaders are role models and trusted guides. They often help moderators ensure everything runs smoothly.

What you can do:

  • Pin or unpin topics for everyone to see.
  • Close or archive discussions.
  • Edit posts to keep things tidy and clear.

Leaders are usually selected by moderators based on their exceptional contributions.

Why Do We Use Trust Levels?

Trust levels help us create a safe and friendly environment by encouraging thoughtful participation. It’s our way of saying thank you for contributing to the community and making it better for everyone.

Wherever you are in your journey, we’re excited to have you here. Let’s grow and build something amazing together!
